Confession of a Biblical Scientist
I base my life on two fundamental sources: the Bible and observations of the world (the witness of Creation). I do not understand the Bible fully, nor do I have access to all observations. I thus rely on others to help me understand Scripture, to be witnesses, and to interpret observations.
I find significant evidence (historical, archeological) that confirms the Bible subsequent to the Pentatuch. I know of no clear contradictory evidence to any of Scripture (Genesis 1-11 is an interesting discussion). The lynchpin historical event is the actual death and resurrection of Jesus; without this the Bible is simply another book.
I believe from Scripture that there is one God, I am who I am, who manifested himself in human form as Jesus, the Son of God, and in spiritual form as the Holy Spirit.
I believe from observations that the fundamental assumption of science is generally true, that the physical laws of the universe are constant throughout space and time.
I believe God chooses to predominantly act in accordance with those constant physical laws. The frequency of exceptions, such as the Resurrection, is unknown to us.
I believe based on both scripture and history that, as long as humans exist, there will be more for humans to learn about God and the universe. Both are infinite as compared to our understanding. We will always be expanding/correcting our understanding. There are almost certainly 1) errors in our understanding of the Bible and 2) things happening that affect us that we currently don’t have the slightest knowledge of.
